Connections
Hugo 'Hurley' Reyes
After Hurley was released from the Santa Rosa Mental Health Institute, he got re-employed, working under Randy at Mr. Cluck's Chicken Shack. He won the lottery using the Numbers that a former fellow psychiatric patient had constantly muttered, which allowed Hurley to quit his job. People around him began being afflicted by misfortunes (Hurley believed this was because the Numbers were cursed), and his previous place of employment (Mr. Cluck's Chicken Shack) was hit by a meteorite ("Numbers") ("Tricia Tanaka Is Dead"). Hurley, however, continued to experience incredibly good luck and his acquisitions continued to accumulate; he acquired ownership of the box company which Locke happened to work at. Hurley then gave the former manager of Mr. Cluck's Chicken Shack a job at the box company. Hurley had a majority shareholding in the company according to his financial adviser, Ken Halperin.("Numbers")
John Locke
John Locke held the position of Regional Collections Supervisor at the box company in Tustin, California before the crash. His boss was Randy from the Mr. Cluck's Chicken Shack that Hurley had worked at. He bullied Locke because he enjoyed playing Axis & Allies with a colleague, saying that Locke had no actual military experience. ("Walkabout")

At Randy's suggestion, Sam Thomas invested in a box company. It later burned down and Sam received an insurance payout from it. (Find 815 clues/January 22)
Trivia
- In a Lost Podcast [source needed], it was suggested that Hurley gave Randy the job at the box company after he felt that he was responsible for the meteorite that hit Mr. Cluck's.
- In Lost: The Untold, the company is called Box2 (Box Squared) and its tagline is "The Better Box". However, the validity of this source is disputed as it is not canon.
