Background

Davies was born on October 10, 1969 in Traverse City, Michigan, the son of a children's book author. He got his first film role in an episode of the television sitcom Singer & Sons, in 1990. Two years later, he appeared in two episodes of the show The Wonder Years. He played various small roles from there, mostly in television projects that were short-lived. He was then cast in a Subaru commercial, which was noticed by many casting directors. He was sent many film scripts, but the first he chose was for the film Twister, a 1994 film which also starred Sean Whalen, (who has appeared on Lost as Frogurt). However, his biggest turning point in acting was when he starred as Cpl. Timothy P Upham in 1998's Saving Private Ryan, a critically acclaimed film. This propelled him into many other films, such as Solaris. In one of his films, The Million Dollar Hotel, his character was attracted to a woman named Eloise. Davies' Lost character Faraday is also linked to an Eloise. He has also appeared alongside Nestor Carbonell (Richard Alpert) in the film The Laramie Project. Sean Whalen, who portrays Neil Frogurt, portrayed Jeremy Davies's brother in the movie "Twister". They shared many scenes together.
