Rebecca Mader interview

The Rebecca Mader Interview news item can be removed from the page, as questions are no longer being accepted. -- Sam  T  C  10:41, 1 July 2008 (PDT)

Lost Book Club

I saw that ABC.com created a section called The Lost Book Club. I'm not sure if this is the right place to put this, but someone should create a new page for it on here and add it to their resume! --Lostbrotha 16:57, 1 July 2008 (PDT)

This should go under Lostpedia:Ideas. -- Sam  T  C  16:59, 1 July 2008 (PDT)

Oceanic Six Pages

I think we need a hard-and-fast rule about how the After-Island sections are handled for the 06/Ben/Desmond ect. I like the 2005/2006/2007 layout, but Sun's page specifically is constantly altered to having descriptive headings, like pre-island stuff. So, what do you think is better? --Jamster 13:40, 5 July 2008 (PDT)

Link

To interviews?--Rbfskywalker 09:20, 7 July 2008 (PDT)

You might get a better response if you use those words to form complete sentences.    Jabberwock    talk    contribs    email   - 09:58, 7 July 2008 (PDT)
  • Was that a Personal Attack I heard? --Rbfskywalker 13:59, 7 July 2008 (PDT)
No, more a request to state reasoning I think. Also there is a link on the main page to interview, do you mean a more noticeable link? --Nickb123 (Talk) 14:01, 7 July 2008 (PDT)
Not, PA and not a request to state reasoning. I absolutely had no idea what was being asked.    Jabberwock    talk    contribs    email   - 14:58, 7 July 2008 (PDT)
  • Mayby on the Lostpedia Frappr Map · Media Coverage · Categories · The Lost Experience · Find 815 bit?--Rbfskywalker 14:27, 7 July 2008 (PDT)
That could work, though it may be too long for a single line. Perhaps Lostpedia Frappr Map should be moved? --Nickb123 (Talk) 14:51, 7 July 2008 (PDT)
We don't need two links. In fact that whole line is pretty much redundant and should be merged into the links above.    Jabberwock    talk    contribs    email   - 14:54, 7 July 2008 (PDT)
I meant move "Interviews" from the above template to the Frappr line. Stands out more. --Nickb123 (Talk) 14:55, 7 July 2008 (PDT)
Hm...I do feel that a more prominent link could be used. However, two links would be unnecessary.-- Sam  T  C  14:57, 7 July 2008 (PDT)
I don't think it makes sense to move it out of the section with the other portal pages. If we need to draw more attention to things, then a news item should be posted when the interviews go up.    Jabberwock    talk    contribs    email   - 15:01, 7 July 2008 (PDT)
I feel that the interviews are a very important part of the wiki, but at the same time, if a news item was posted for each interview, there would be too many news items. Perhaps a little header at the top of each page, much like the David Fury interview was publicized, except simply linking to the portal? -- Sam  T  C  15:04, 7 July 2008 (PDT)
We could utilize the featured article section, or remove the poll for now.    Jabberwock    talk    contribs    email   - 15:06, 7 July 2008 (PDT)

(undenting) Another option would be to create a portal for Featured Content similar to Wikipedia.    Jabberwock    talk    contribs    email   - 15:18, 7 July 2008 (PDT)

That would be a good idea as well, Jabr. -- Sam  T  C  15:21, 7 July 2008 (PDT)
There is loads of room under fearured atrical. Also couldn't we have like a mini news thing for it like Latest interviews with pitures? I think people want to kbow about new interviews but not as mutch as they do the other stuff in the news box. --Rbfskywalker 08:24, 8 July 2008 (PDT)
There is "loads of room" right now, but not usually. That area changes dynamically based on the amount of news posted and the size of the featured article section. I was under the impression you wanted this "above the fold" anyway.    Jabberwock    talk    contribs    email   - 05:17, 9 July 2008 (PDT)
I just think anywhere with a little more exposure would be fantastic. I mean, this week's article of the week has gotten 40,000 views, likely from being put in a spot on the main page. The Rebecca Mader interview, however, has only 1,000. Perhaps a more prominent spot for the interviews would draw more attention to them, as they are original content by Lostpedia, and are no small thing. Even a small permanent note around the news/next time on lost section would generate more views for the interviews, because not many people look up to the portals section of the page, apparently. -- Sam  T  C  12:22, 14 July 2008 (PDT)
Sam's making an excellent point. This is not just any content, it's exclusive content, and I think it's at least as interesting as any featured article.--     c      blacxthornE      t     09:07, 16 July 2008 (PDT)

Comic-Con

The Comic-Con 2008 schedule has been released, with Damon and Carlton appearing on Saturday at noon and also on Friday at 1:45 for an Entertainment Weekly spot. This may be worthy of a recent news spot. -- WanderingMathematician  talk  contribs  email  07:39, 16 July 2008 (PDT)

8 noms

Lol, noms. Anyway, because Lostpedia covers the entire Lost universe, not just the TV series, the Emmy news article should note 8 nominations, because of the Missing Pieces nom. --Blueeagleislander 18:15, 17 July 2008 (PDT)

I agree with that, it should really be 8 -random2502 18:23, 17 July 2008 (PDT)
That's nice and all, but they decide, not us. Officially, it is 7 nominations for Lost, 1 for Lost: Missing Pieces. danhm 18:30, 17 July 2008 (PDT)
But 8 for the Lost universe! IF you're so attached to seven, perhaps another news article about the 8th would be good? --Blueeagleislander 18:34, 17 July 2008 (PDT)
I mentioned the "eighth" nomination in the article. danhm 18:52, 17 July 2008 (PDT)
Sigh, I don't think I'll win. What I meant was it's not on the Main Page, but don't worry 'bout it. --Blueeagleislander 18:56, 17 July 2008 (PDT)
This site's for everything Lost related (were not the mobisodes referred to in the main page's spoiler warning amongst other things) so surely they should be referred to in the news article's title. They're not even mentioned in the article at all, despite the fact that they are a lot more related to the show that other item's listed on the main page (the new ARG and bookclub both with news articles). -random2502 19:01, 20 July 2008 (PDT)
The time for this has passed really, but I believe that we should have stated the 8 nominations, it is "Lost" news of course, so if we were to overlook that, why not just delete the whole Missing Pieces page? (I also hold this view because when I first joined this site years ago, this was my only point of reference for everything Lost, including news, I did not use Dark etc, and I am sure there are still those kind of people around, so lets try and be as comprehensive as possible?) --Lewis-Talk-Contribs 06:57, 22 July 2008 (PDT)
Wasn't it ABC though and the Lost people who publicized themselves as having 7 nominations. In the blog post, you'll notice we mention the Missing Pieces thing, but it seems like TPTB themselves called it seven. --Nickb123 (Talk) 07:00, 22 July 2008 (PDT)
Oh really? Thats a shame that they are overlooking that nomination.. I dont know how the emmys work, do they only show a limited number of awards and then have minor awards like the Missing Pieces category? Maybe thats why they listed it as 7. --Lewis-Talk-Contribs 07:07, 22 July 2008 (PDT)

Big empty space idea

I have an idea on what to put under the AotW during the hiatus. An "Octagon Watch" box, which is regularly updated to show recent events in the new ARG. Feedback? --Blueeagleislander 05:22, 18 July 2008 (PDT)

Sounds like an awesome idea! I would find it very useful.--Baker1000 05:45, 18 July 2008 (PDT)
I think this could work, but perhaps wait to see how big this is gonna be first. Also, I think we first need to think about calendar links for the OGR page primarily - as the clues so far are already stretching the one page. --Nickb123 (Talk) 05:48, 18 July 2008 (PDT)

Misspelling in Latest News

In the latest news it says "ARG Comic Con Update - ...at Comic Con, San Digeo". Somebody should fix that. --       19:40, 20 July 2008 (PDT)

This has been fixed since post --Lewis-Talk-Contribs 06:49, 22 July 2008 (PDT)

Spoiler Warning

Given that we're nearly 2 months after the finale showed, is there any point of having the spoiler warning on the main page now? PeterR 14:11, 23 July 2008 (PDT)

Yes, Season 5 begins shooting soon (August I believe), and therefore spoilers begin to emerge. --Blueeagleislander 01:18, 24 July 2008 (PDT)
You also have to remember that not every visitor to the site has watched Season 4. Some might be new fans looking for their Season 1 summaries!--Baker1000 05:23, 24 July 2008 (PDT)
The spoiler warning has been there for YEARS. Its purpose is to indicate that anything on this site could be considered a spoiler, and it makes clear what episode of the show the site is updated to. Its purpose isn't to warn people of potential spoilers at the time, its to make clear that the whole site is updated to that particular point, and to make clear the spoiler policy and its intent.  Plkrtn  talk  contribs  email  11:11, 24 July 2008 (PDT)
Ok, I see, but perhaps it should at least be made a generic warning rather than ""There's No Place Like Home, Parts 2 & 3" - Season 4 Finale" specific? PeterR 07:17, 27 July 2008 (PDT)
  • Or perhaps an addition, where the missing pieces used to be, to show that information from Comic-Con is being used here, such as Pierre Cheng? -- Sam  T  C  07:51, 27 July 2008 (PDT)

Poll/Quiz

I was just wondering if we could finally get a new poll on the front page. We've had the same one for about two months, and I think it's time we either remove it, or put a new poll up. If we wanted a new pool, we could probably ask about if anyone is going to participate in the newest ARG or just keep up to date, or something similar. Alternatively, we could just do a good old favourite or least favourite character, DHARMA Station, etc. or any of those fun little opinion polls. Anyways, can we just find a new poll? Scheduling

The Science Fiction channel is advertising that it will be presenting Lost beginning Thursday, Sep 18, 2008. The on-air promo did not mention which episodes, but the images appeared to be the tail section going into the water (Season 2?). This should be on the main page.--Jim in Georgia Talk Contribs 13:54, 30 July 2008 (PDT)

  • I agree, maybe on the next time on Lost section. That is strange however though that they are advertising for a event that is taking place a month and a half in the future...--Jinx 13:54, 31 July 2008 (PDT)
  • I know G4 are going to be showing Enhanced episodes from Season 1 starting September 15th, where are Sci-Fi advertising new episodes? US Sci-Fi channel? Isn't that owned by NBC/Universal? Plkrtn  talk  contribs  email  19:21, 2 August 2008 (PDT)
  • I saw the ad while I was watching something (Eureka, I think) on SciFi. Go to Scifi.com, click on schedule and search for lost. The display changes to the September calendar. They're doing it marathon style, with no episode titles as yet. Because the image I saw looked like the tail going into the drink, I figured they'd be showing season 2 and that I'd missed season 1. Maybe they just liked the imagery from "The Other 48 Days". I think SciFi is owned by NBC, but this is not the first time I've seen crossovers.--Jim in Georgia Talk Contribs 10:03, 3 August 2008 (PDT)
  • Sci-fi (US) has released their September schedule and they will be airing Lost on Monday's starting on September 15th. They will show 4 episodes every Monday starting at 7:00 PM EST. You can check out the airing schedules on this page: http://www.scifi.com/schedulebot/index.php3?date=15-SEP-2008&feed_req=. Although they have not specified which episodes they will air yet on which days so we will have to keep an eye on that. -Mr.Leaf 09:08, 9 August 2008 (PDT)
  • SciFi (US) has added the episode titles to its schedule; it's season 1. The first night is:
The next week is the next four shows.

E4 repeats cancelled

The front page still says that Season 1 is being repeated on E4 in the UK, but these repeats were cancelled. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Mjwilson (talkcontribs) .

Thanks, I've amended this. --Nickb123 (Talk) 06:40, 2 August 2008 (PDT)

We're #1!

  • Perhaps to make us more credible, a link to a source could be added inconspicuously into this phrase? Such as a link from #1? Also, I think the thing should be rephrased slightly to read "The #1 Lost Fansite on the Web!" I think #1 looks better, and the web is really the only place you'll find Lost fansites. -- Sam  T  C  17:49, 7 August 2008 (PDT)

Agree. #1 looks better than Number 1. -- CTS  Talk   Contribs 17:49, 7 August 2008 (PDT)

I agree that #1 looks better than Number 1, and also the words "Fansite" and "World" (or "Web" if it changes) need capitals as it is a title (or subtitle, whatever its called in this case) and the word "Number" has one. I also agree that "The #1 Lost Fansite on the Web" sounds better than "The #1 Lost Fansite in the World".
I should point out a problem with Lostpedia proclaiming it is the #1 Lost Fansite. If you Google DarkUFO, it comes up with "DarkUFO - The No.1 Fan Site for the TV Show LOST". As Sam McPherson said, it would be best to have a source that proves this to be true, so that other sites who claim they are #1 do not get in a conflict. -- #1LostFan  talk  contribs  Lost Wiki  00:17, 8 August 2008 (PDT)
See here. And this from EW. --Blueeagleislander 01:04, 8 August 2008 (PDT)
I actually removed the link cause we didn't need to justify ourselves. Also the link was based on Feb 2008, not over a great period. If anyone questions the statement, they can use Alexa.com and compare hit rates and see for themselves. --Nickb123 (Talk) 03:20, 8 August 2008 (PDT)
Personally I don't think it's necessary to state the #1 fansite since it's not very objective. If you visit the DarkUFO site he also claims to be the "No. 1 Fan Site".    Jabberwock    talk    contribs    email   - 07:04, 8 August 2008 (PDT)
Which is why it was put there frankly. As we ARE the #1 fansite, statistically proven, and other sites are claiming that they are, it seems only right, and very important that we continue to be a site that has the real facts.  Plkrtn  talk  contribs  email  08:09, 8 August 2008 (PDT)
Just for those who ask here are the 1 year stats via alexa  Plkrtn  talk  contribs  email  08:17, 8 August 2008 (PDT):::
You can still say you're no#1 fansite without being statistical though. --Nickb123 (Talk) 08:20, 8 August 2008 (PDT)
But this is proof we're number one, unlike DarkUFO who just says it. --Blueeagleislander 08:22, 8 August 2008 (PDT)
Does DarkUfo have reasoning to say that or does he just think it? conoreff
You'd have to ask the people at DarkUFO that. He is certainly number 1 when it comes to getting the rumors and spoilers posted, but thats something we don't trade in, so that isn't a direct comparator. Visa versa, Dark doesn't have a wiki. Straight popularity is really the only useful guide. Its been placed there because whilst other people can think they're #1, we do have conclusive evidence that the claim for #1, most popular etc can't really be had by anyone else at the moment.  Plkrtn  talk  contribs  email  10:41, 8 August 2008 (PDT)
While I have checked with Alexa and the stats prove correct, I think that sourcing this statement would be best, so we're not one of the many sites who claim to be #1 without proof. The average reader, when seeing that, will wanna know "how?" And they probably won't know about alexa. I know i didn't. So a simple link would be great. -- Sam  T  C  13:11, 8 August 2008 (PDT)
  • Linking to the Lostpedia:Media coverage page might not be a bad idea as it has a lot of references to top site, site of the week, and lots of evidence towards this if nothing else. -Mr.Leaf 08:51, 9 August 2008 (PDT)
I agree with Mr. Leaf. -- Sam  T  C  08:54, 9 August 2008 (PDT)
I've removed it completely. I'm not fussed either way. There'll still be a small gap on either column for me no matter where we put it. --Blueeagleislander 19:43, 6 September 2008 (PDT)
The new quote template has a gap between the title and the actual quote. Its no biggie, but it would be nice to remove the gap to make the main page a wee bit smaller and better. --TRUETECH19:42, 14 September 2008 (PDT)

Island Dates

Hey. I'm currently working on figuring out a more accurate timeline for the Losties' days on the island, as I've found a few discrepancies in the first few weeks. You can see my discussion of it here: http://forum.lostpedia.com/showthread.php?t=18482 (feel free to add your comments either on the forum or after this post. I'd appreciate it). I remember reading somewhere that somebody once requested that in addition to the number of days on the island on each episode's wiki page, that the specific dates that the episode takes place on be added to the box. I'm just wondering how people would feel if I went through and did that for each episode once I figure out a more accurate timeline? Cononach 07:28, 2 October 2008 (PDT)
