Congratulations! you're the third Lostaway with one of these! GodEmperorOfHell --19:30, 22 February 2006 (PST)
Thanks for the tips guys, hope you don't mind my following suit. «««Joseph»»» 21:36, 22 February 2006 (PST)
What?
thanks for tracking this freak. Now I see we have him cornered, he is nothing more than a rat barking at the moon. Oliver Mitchell or not, this freak is just screaming lawsuit as his tricks are starting to run out. I am confidant defeat is at hand. Please continue your efforts. you have been a great help. GodEmperorOfHell --10:36, 24 March 2006 (PST)
Welcome aboard!
Welcome to the selected group of lostaways with sysop powers. This is in no way an orientation film ;) but amongst your newfound responsibilities are not only preventing Bob, spammer and vandal attacks. as you see, I am the one in charge of updating the daily news feature on weekdays, Plkrtn was in charge of updating "This week on LOST", but has been offline for a while. We need somebody to fill that position in. Special:Uncategorizedpages must remain empty except for the Main Page. Be specially wary of edits by anonymous users. I wholeheartedly recommend using the RSS feed to keep track of edits without having this page in an open window. I use Mozilla Firefox and it works wonders with wiki, I specially recommend the Clippings extension, it makes continuous editing really easy.Something important to remember when blocking vandals, spammers and Bob; use the espionage feature to get their IPs and ban them as well. And most important of all have fun. This weekend has been difficult for me, and with your help we can thwart the Bob menace. GodEmperorOfHell --09:42, 25 March 2006 (PST)
Talks
Hi. Maybe you know... is there a way to talk/communicate with other members without using the talk pages? Something that not everyone can read and edit? esp. other Sysops? --aurora glacialis 15:09, 25 March 2006 (PST)
Old news but...
very interesting and relevant info in the body of the text, It's getting harder and harder finding two of these every day. GodEmperorOfHell --18:25, 26 March 2006 (PST)

I don't think, blocking IPs has any value except you could block the whole service provider. Most users have a dynamic IP, so it's unlikely that Bob will have the same IP twice - more likely someone else will get that IP and wonder why he can't access this site. Well - ok it's not more likely but the point is that it's probably a waste of time to block single IPs.
You can block users before they make an edit (in case of BoB, this is useful since it saves some time reverting all the edits. BTW - it would be nice to have a "rollback all" button on the contributions page....
Jabrwocky, I tried to email you but got no reply, you have emails disabled? Then maybe write me, if you want. --aurora glacialis 10:51, 28 March 2006 (PST)
I did some research today and found out that with versions 1.5 and above of mediawiki, we can block via IP ranges. I blocked some of Bob's favorite IP ranges using this technique today. Here is a link to a metawiki howto on using IP range blocks: [1]. Jabberwock talk contribs email 11:59, 28 March 2006 (PST)
Also, btw I'm working under the assumption that "bob" is using a proxy server to make his surfing anonymous. Most of his IPs go back to amsterdam, and I think he's really in the US. Jabberwock talk contribs email 12:01, 28 March 2006 (PST)
SORBS is on, that should take care of the most open proxies, the last few attacks have come from Energis House UK, and here are the ranges: User_talk:Admin#Another_Bob_Attack. --skks 12:10, 28 March 2006 (PST)
Why delete my Blast Door entry?
I don't understand why you'd delete this entry -- no discussion or anything! If nothing else, the information should have been folded into a larger entry, like The Swan. Please explain. --Joezoo 22:10, 29 March 2006 (PST) EDIT: Seems I spoke too hastily. Apologies!
How come WE don't have a wikipedia entry...
while we are listed in the List of Wikis? [2]GodEmperorOfHell --09:17, 9 April 2006 (PDT)
We do now! I set up a small page. Take a look and make some edits if you like. I also put a request in for an interwiki link to be setup on the meta.wikimedia.org site. I'm not sure if that replicates to wikipedia, but we'll find out.

Lost Season 2 > Season 2
First of all, why did you revert this move? We are LostPedia and all of our articles are assumed to relate to Lost. There is no need to be redundant in titles.
Second of all, Why did you protect the page from moves? How rude.
At the very least, you should discuss this on Talk:Lost Season 2, because your admin actions seem overbearing. -- Lostpedian 09:22, 10 April 2006 (PDT)
Not overbearing. You shouldn't have moved this page without FIRST discussing it in the talk page. Having the word LOST in the title of this article helps with search engine results. Also, you moved the Lost Season 2 page, but did not move Lost Season 1 page. You couldn't do that because it was already protected. I discussed this revert with a few other sysops and they were in agreement. Jabberwock talk contribs email - 10:01, 10 April 2006 (PDT)
If you insist on having "Lost" in the page title, then do it the right way... take a look at MediaWiki talk:Pagetitle. -- Lostpedian 10:58, 10 April 2006 (PDT)
This type of change should only be performed by Admin, the owner of this wiki. You're entitled to your opinion, but that doesn't make it the "right way". Jabberwock talk contribs email - 11:05, 10 April 2006 (PDT)
- Naming every article "xxx of LOST" or "LOST xxx" is certainly not a good long-term solution. Please do contact Admin and point this out to him. -- Lostpedian 11:16, 10 April 2006 (PDT)
- Here is a link to Admin's Talk Page. That is the only way I know of to contact him. Besides, nobody is suggesting that every article be named XXX of Lost. There are certain articles where this makes sense, and others where it doesn't make sense (IMHO). Jabberwock talk contribs email - 11:36, 10 April 2006 (PDT)

About 'Lostpedian' Block.
I think this individual used to go under the name LOST fan, he follows the same patterns. I blocked LOST Fan when he renamed my user page and signature to GodEmperorofH***. I blocked him under the basis of Netiquette, under no circumstances should you mess with another user's identity. To bring light to why we have this conflict with a smart fellow who is not a troll or a vandal please refer to Introduction to Antiprocess. I have linked this in the Main page, under Usage Help. This document is very revealing as why we have disagreements with valuable and intelligent people who want nothing but help us. GodEmperorOfHell --11:21, 12 April 2006 (PDT)
You may be an admin...
... but you have a lousy way of interacting with other people that just want to make things better. Attacking the Manual of Style page by renaming it is completely unhelpful -- you should instead help build upon it and, where you disagree, explain that on a Talk page. -- Lostpedian 09:41, 19 April 2006 (PDT)
- This was no attack. I'm sorry that you take personal offense to this. This page was moved because your "guidelines" have not already been discussed. While some of the statements make sense, they have not been subjected to review by sysops and admin. Please do not undo moves made by your friendly sysops. You have been warned about this before (by another sysop).
- Jabberwock talk contribs email - 10:24, 19 April 2006 (PDT)
- The page can be reviewed by everyone whenever they like. While I agree that the Admin can overrule anything, and sysops are generally wise, to assume that everything must first meet some arbitrary "review" is elitist. Several LostPedia project pages have been created without your supposed requirement, nor a (proposed) moniker. Try actually being friendly, rather than pushy. -- Lostpedian 10:33, 19 April 2006 (PDT)
- I have to go with my felow sysop here. While we accept recomendations by everyone we discuss them before making them official, that's we have system operators. GodEmperorOfHell --10:37, 19 April 2006 (PDT)
- I have to agree too when it comes to major changes like deleting, moving, merging or splitting articles - this should be discussed in the talk pages first. Not always with Sysops, but Sysops of course can discuss there too... --aurora glacialis 10:49, 19 April 2006 (PDT)
- You should also notice that most of the pages in the project namespace were created by Admin. He does not need to submit policies and administrative pages for review since he is the owner of this wiki. Jabberwock talk contribs email - 11:00, 19 April 2006 (PDT)
- I have a different opinion about who's being pushy. There's disagreements and then there's just wanting to have your way no matter what. If something you edit/move gets reverted/re-edited/removed by a sysop - friendly would be talking about in the appropriate talk pages. Pushy is doing whatever got reverted again, with a note to your reasoning in the summary box. Most times you get in return what you dish out, and I can't remember a time when Lostpedian was friendly or even just willing to discuss with anyone. --skks 14:58, 19 April 2006 (PDT)

I don't know. I am not very keen on banning him. I spoke with him and apparently he means no harm. I know he spoke with defiance, but his last posts appeared in a different light. I don't know if he will reform or not, I am checking his edits very closely. Skks and I spoke about this and We see him as limited, not as a threat. GodEmperorOfHell --13:17, 14 May 2006 (PDT)

Image advice
Hi I have a question... I posted two images, where I thought I had the permission of the photographer, and I was mistaken. I wanted to demonstrate web publishing to him, but he hadn't realized I was using a (public domain) wiki, i.e. Lostpedia. I've removed the references to the images in the two articles I had created, Papailoa Beach and Fisherman's Wharf, but I cannot delete the photos as a nonadmin. The two photos are:
- C¯ _Santa_ ¯T04:21, 4 June 2006 (PDT)

International Airdates on Front Page
I can update the England section, it's now about 3 weeks behind and I'm getting irritated with it; I'd be more than happy to volunteer to update it myself. I can do it once the episode has ended each week over here. --Keyes 16:12, 11 June 2006 (PDT)
Page layout
Was just wondering about something. I was pointed by User:Captain Insano to a new user (User:Cking) whose userpage design is exactly identical to my own. I thought ok this could possibly be a coincidence, but when viewing the source, he's used the exact color codes and background styles which I spent a long time tweaking. So I was just wondering really what can be done. I sent a message asking if he could slightly change it cause I spent ages trying to personalise it so it was unique. What else can I say though? Is there an actual rule against lifting userpage formats? --Nickb123 (Talk) 09:18, 25 June 2006 (PDT)
- Ok point taken, I'll live...in annoyance. I wouldn't have minded the thieving of the basic format, its just it was right down to the detail tis all. Never mind I'll get over it --Nickb123 (Talk) 03:38, 26 June 2006 (PDT)
Deletion of talk pages
When an article is deleted, it's talk page is not. Is this intentional? --Jambalaya 13:54, 25 June 2006 (PDT)
All articles are now Protected from Moves
TO: All Sysops
Our most recent troll found a really annoying way to automate a ton of edits. Making the rolling back process take much much longer. He made rollbacks very difficult by deleting the content on the article, saving and then moving the article to a new location.
Long story short. I have updated the database to force every article to be move protected. Only Sysops have the rights to move articles from one place to another.
When this vandal returns, we will be able to roll back his changes in the normal EASY way. Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks, Admin --Admin 07:25, 8 July 2006 (PDT)
Featured glitch?
This might be just my computer, but even though fail-safe was a featured article and the template {{featured article}} has been added, the star won't appear at the top of the article, though it does on every other one? Is this just a little glitch? --Nickb123 (Talk) 16:37, 17 July 2006 (PDT)
- Ah right, yeah I see now, I notice stuff like on the main page or new versions of images usually take a while to update. Thanks for that URL thing and sorry to bother ya --Nickb123 (Talk) 09:21, 19 July 2006 (PDT)

Oscars
Hahaha thanks, I knew that so I feel embarassed now-- and I was even the one that added the smaller Emmy awards Lost did get (and nominations) to the relevant Awards and personal crew articles. I just clipped it from the original source copy, and didn't catch the error there in the original. Thank you for catching that! -- C¯ _Santa_ ¯T15:29, 3 August 2006 (PDT)
- OK I found another article. Surprisingly there are very few articles out there, most are either amateurish or regurgitation of a press release. This one was the best compromise with a clear listing of nominations. I edited the news item to go to the new article. The image is the same, but the text has been adjusted, and the mention of the new website in the first article has been removed. -- C¯ _Santa_ ¯T00:34, 5 August 2006 (PDT)

Article of the week archive
Can I ask why this page is protected? I mean its not the frontpage article, it just mirrors ones that have been on. With the article itself protected under e.g. week 31 etc, does the archive also have to be protected? --Nickb123 (Talk) 02:18, 7 August 2006 (PDT)
- It's only protected since it's static content and the news archive is setup the same way. I usually update it at the same time I update the front page article. Do you have changes to the page you want to suggest? Jabberwock talk contribs email - 09:00, 7 August 2006 (PDT)
- Oh no, I just mentioned it cause I got it unprotected in the past because it was about a month out of date, and so thought I'd ask it to be left open to edit so that didn't happen again. However, if you're updating it every week as you judge for featured articles, then it doesn't really matter. On a related note, I live in the UK and am sometimes on when the frontpage needs updating before you Americans wake up (particularly at the mo whilst its summer hols), and have moved the most popular article of the week etc and sorted it out. Is this OK for me to do should I ever be on earlier than yourself, or is it something an advanced user should really carry out --Nickb123 (Talk) 09:19, 7 August 2006 (PDT)

LostPedian
I support this ban as the username is inappropriate, but this could be a random guy who is simply enthusiastic about the site. Shouldn't you inform this person somehow before he finds himself blocked. A simple "this is why we blocked you" would be a perfectly sufficient explanation if it was me, but just banning him seems harsh --Nickb123 (Talk) 07:19, 15 August 2006 (PDT)
- One of the main reasons for banning Lostpedian originally was that he moved several pages without first discussing. From the new Lostpedian's contribs it looks like he is doing the same thing. It's most likely a sockpuppet and there is no point in taking a chance. Looks like there is going to be a new policy against having "Lostpedia" variations as your username. We don't want a user registering using that type of name and having other users make assumptions based on that. A blocked user can still send email to sysops to discuss and if it's a genuine user we can work it out there. Jabberwock talk contribs email - 07:25, 15 August 2006 (PDT)
- OK. Also, could you do something for me. Under Lostpedia:Administrators at the top I'd quite like there to be a line in italics, much like the see also bit, giving a link to Lostpedia:SysOps as I think people searching for admin sometimes do so with the purpose of learning about what they do etc, so a little link on that page might be helpful. PS: LOL, this is ironic, but I may also know Lostpedian from yet another site; although of course anyone could be choosing that name.
- Don't unblock him though lol, I don't like his style of not discussing before he does major work to the site as a whole --Nickb123 (Talk) 09:53, 16 August 2006 (PDT)
- We won't be blocking "Lostpedian" any time soon. This is only an unblock of the IP to give a chance to a regular user that claims to not be Lostpedian. Jabberwock talk contribs email - 10:02, 16 August 2006 (PDT)

- And no offence GEOH, I respect ya as a user, but I find it very rude when people speak amongst themselves in their own language (when they understand English perfectly) in front of me just to alienate ya whether online or not. Just thought I'd get that off me chest there! --Nickb123 (Talk) 12:57, 18 August 2006 (PDT)

Well, gotta add, guilty as charged, I have spoken spanish to Insano knowingly just to alienate him. He always gives me the roundabout. But to Mr.Eko he has lousy spanish classes in school and it was just innocent banter. I have not called anyone any mexican profanity. - Its fine when explaining to someone if their English ain't good obviously, cause otherwise they're alienated. But its when its just to have a sly joke comment, and when others are in the same "room" as it were and people are hiding behind the language.
